Brilliant Performance in Kronach: Daniel Shakes Up Bavaria’s Chess Elite!

What a weekend for the “Chess Brothers”! From March 6th to 8th, 2026, the Bavarian Youth Individual Championship (BJEM) for the U8 category took place in Kronach (Upper Franconia). In a high-class field of competitors fighting for the coveted qualification spots for the German Championship, our Daniel made a massive statement.

A 7-Round Thriller

A total of seven rounds were played under the Swiss System with a demanding time control of 55 minutes plus a 5-second increment per move. This required the young talents—all born in 2018 or later—to maintain peak concentration over three intense days.

Daniel’s Success by the Numbers

Despite being one of the younger participants in the field, Daniel showed impressive maturity and nerves of steel at the board. The results speak for themselves:

• 4th Place Overall (U8): Daniel fought his way to the top and missed the podium by the narrowest of margins. This officially makes him one of the four best players in U8 age group in all of Bavaria!
• Best U6 & U7 Player: Since Daniel competed against many older opponents, his performance in his actual age group is particularly noteworthy. He secured the title of the best participant in both the U6 and U7 rankings.

More Than Just Chess

Beyond the exciting matches, there was plenty of room for fun. Between rounds, the players enjoyed games of table tennis at the youth hostel, providing the necessary physical balance to the mental exertion at the chessboard.

We are incredibly proud of this development. A big thank you goes to the Bavarian Chess Youth (BSJ) for the excellent organization and hosting of this tournament.

Daniel has proven that even as one of the youngest, you can play at the very top with strategy and focus. We are already looking forward to the next tournaments!
