Daniel Kovacs Dominates RKST Hamburg 2026

The Regional Children’s Chess Tournament (RKST) in Hamburg has concluded, and while the competition was fierce across two groups of talented young players, one name stood out at the top of the leaderboard in Group B: Daniel Kovacs.

Representing SC Vaterstetten-Grasbrunn (listed as Schach-Club Vat in the final standings), Daniel entered the tournament with a strong DWZ of 1123. Over the course of the two-day event held at the Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium, he proved exactly why he was one of the top seeds.

Daniel’s performance was nothing short of flawless. In a field of competitive U8 players, he managed a „clean sweep,“ finishing the tournament with:

This performance earned him a qualification for the German National Championship.
